⏳ Are Online Courses Scams? — Time Billionaires Issue #003
Hey Time Billionaire — Aadit here.
Today’s issue covers:
Are online courses scams?
10 ultra-useful websites (to try out)
Does Elon Musk have too much power?
Let’s get into it!
Are Online Courses a Scam?
The answer to the question is probably the one that you thought:
Some online courses are scams. Not all.
A good online course is when you steal from the teacher. A bad online course is when a teacher steals from you.
I’ve been part of 5+ cohort-based/online courses and I’ve realized one thing:
All it takes is that one nugget to make the course worth it.
The second concern people call them scams: “why are they so expensive?”
I’ll tell you what happens behind the scenes (I run my own):
Live classes and interactive sessions (giving you direct access to creators)
Access to premium community. The higher the price, the more exclusive the community and access. The better quality.
Lots of admin work, managing, ensuring the community is smoothly run.
Pro tip on seeing the validity of the course: Check the testimonials and social proof around the online course.
It’ll tell you what people exactly got out of it so you can have the same takeaways plus more!

This Twitter thread had a ton of websites that I hadn’t even heard of. Pretty cool ones in there!
One of them being sleepyti.me.
It tells you what time you should sleep to NOT interrupt your sleep cycles.
I want to wake up at 7am everyday.
According to the website, I have to sleep at 10:00pm, 11:30pm, 1:00am or 2:30am.
11:30pm it is. I’ll keep you updated on how it goes!
Does Elon Musk Have Too Much Power?
This week I listened to this episode from the Indie Hackers Podcast with Justin Jackson and Sahil Lavingia about their opinions on Elon.
Basically, Sahil is pro-Elon and Justin is anti-Elon.
A few takeaways:
There are way too many people that just listen to Elon about everything. He knows car manufacturing, he knows space exploration. But that doesn’t mean he knows everything.
People have to start making an opinion of their own.
No one is perfect. Elon has problems. The government has issues. Nobody has it fully figured out. We’re all flawed humans.
If you already do or don’t have an opinion on Elon, I think the episode itself is pretty eye-opening to the fact that we should think for ourselves and not treat anyone as god.
That’s it for this week. This has been super fun.
