TL;DR (feel free to skip around):

  • Thought: Grizzled Veteran vs Curious Learner

  • Interesting: Qatar spent more on the football World Cup than their entire GDP

  • Not to be missed: Trump makes it back to Twitter

  • Yes: Look back with pride

Grizzled Veteran vs Curious Learner

I get asked this question very often:

“Why would someone listen to me? How can I build an audience?”

The first question hits home. That’s deep imposter syndrome. And that’s okay. From speaking to huge creators (on Twitter at least), I’ve found that even the biggest of creators feel imposter syndrome.

But then what should we do? Quit creating content? Not put ourselves out there?

Nope.

I built a framework for understanding this further. Once you know which side you are on, take the leap confidently. And create content from that perspective.

Here is the framework:

Grizzled veteran vs Curious Learner

A grizzled veteran has been at the game for decades. They know the ins and outs of the industry. They can confidently create content around the topic and potentially start a consulting business in that industry (because of their expertise). That’s cool. You see a lot of these folks on Twitter.

“But what if I’m not a grizzled veteran?'“

If you’re not a grizzled veteran, don’t worry. There’s still a way to build an audience. It’s more difficult (because you haven’t put years of effort into mastering a certain skill) but that’s okay.

As a curious learner, you have to be more experimental. You have to try different things. You have to make it entertaining for the audience. You have to find ways to differentiate yourself from others.

Set a challenge. Go above and beyond. Create videos on a platform where most people share written content. Be different.

A curious learner is someone who is learning on the go and making the process easier for the next person to follow. This can be valuable too but most people think you have to be an expert in the field to create content around it.

If you’re not an expert, find fun and unique ways to stand out. That’ll be more than enough to build a substantial audience.

Here’s an example of a veteran taking the curious learner path.

Scott Delong has flipped multiple sites for six figures already. He’s a veteran at that.

But he said… “Why not do it again but document the whole process?”

Guess what?

He set himself this challenge and grew his audience from 2k → 10k followers in a few days.

That’s the power of taking a creative approach to audience building.

Qatar Spends $220B on World Cup

Some facts about the Qatar World Cup:

  • 108 hotels built

  • Some are luxury hotels on cruise ships = “Floating hotels”

  • New metro system (didn’t exist before)

  • 6500 - 15000 people lives were lost to build all of this

Trump makes it back on Twitter

Elon runs a poll. 51.8% vote yes.

Trump is back. Kanye West is back. Andrew Tate is back.

Do what your kids would one day look back at with pride

I love this.
