⏳ Is Elon Leaving Twitter?
T.I.N.Y Blog, Time Billionaires #028
Thought: People would get more done if they talked less and did more.
Interesting: Elon stepping down as head of Twitter?
Not to be missed: Messi ignoring Salt Bae
Yes: Execution > Ideas
Less talk, more
It's a common saying that "actions speak louder than words." And when it comes to getting things done, this couldn't be more true. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with distractions and tasks fighting for our attention, it can be tempting to engage in endless debates about what we should do. But the truth is, all of that talking isn't actually getting us any closer to our goals.
So how do we break this cycle and start getting more done? The answer is simple: talk less and do more.
One of the biggest obstacles to productivity is the tendency to overthink and overanalyze. We spend hours talking about a problem or task, trying to come up with the perfect solution or plan of action. But all of that talking isn't actually moving us forward. In fact, it can often lead to analysis paralysis, where we are so focused on trying to make the perfect decision that we end up not making any decision at all.
Of course, this doesn't mean that we should completely ignore the value of discussion and collaboration. In many cases, these can be incredibly useful tools for getting things done. But it's important to remember that there is a time and a place for talking, and a time and a place for doing. When it comes to getting things done, it’s important to talk less, and do more.
Elon steps down as head of Twitter?
“What? Elon steps down? but didn’t he join like 2 months ago?”
Well, yes.
Late October, he let that sink in:
Late December: it went from “sink in” to “sinking”.
On Dec 19, he put a tweet out to ask the world if he should step down as head of Twitter.
This is because people got really furious when they decided that links to stuff like linktree etc would be prohibited and would result in the user getting banned.
Guess what, Paul Graham got banned shortly after.
People got more pissed.
He released an apology statement:
This led to the poll that decides if he should step down.
And seems like the poll decided “yes, he should step down”.
People are saying that Elon makes huge decisions using Twitter polls.
I disagree. I think he makes the decision beforehand and kind of knows what the audience will want.
Think about it… He’s posting the poll when he’s made a huge mistake + a lot of smart people are annoyed by his behaviour. What do you think the result of the poll will be?
So what’s next?
Well, I think he has to step down now. I don’t think he can back out. But as I said, he probably decided that he wants to step down anyway (which is why he put the poll). This is all my opinion.
Here are a couple of candidates for the next head of Twitter (in my opinion):
Balaji Srinivasan (@balajis)
Lex Fridman (@lexfridman)
Alexis Ohanian (@alexisohanian)
Sriram Krishnan (@sriramk)
Alexis said he that he is all-in on his projects:
Lex Fridman offered to run Twitter for a bit.
Elon: “you must like pain a lot”.
Lex: I’m in
I’m not sure who’s going to be running it exactly. But the last 48 hours have been a wild ride.
