āWake-up callā for US Tech
The Chinese AI company DeepSeek has developed a powerful AI model, called DeepSeek-R1, that can rival leading US models at a fraction of the cost - around $6 million compared to billions spent by rivals. This has triggered shockwaves on Wall Street, with tech stocks like Nvidia plummeting, and has been called a "wake-up call" by President Trump.
Starbucks Optimization
Starbucks is shaking up its leadership again, adding two former Taco Bell executives to its team. Meredith Sandland will become chief store development officer, and Mike Grams will join as North America's chief stores officer. These changes are to decrease service times, make stores more welcoming, and streamline the menu.
$190M People Affected
UnitedHealth has confirmed the ransomware attack on its Change Healthcare unit in February 2024 affected around 190 million people in America - nearly double previous estimates. This makes it the largest breach of medical data in U.S. history. The data breach includes insurance-related information, including names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and medical records.
Thatās it for now!
