Is AI going to take over the world?

Over the past weeks, I’ve been seeing more and more uses cases of AI.

My favorite Twitter tool, Tweethunter, uses AI to improve the performance of your tweets/threads.

There’s this thing called DALL-E which will create an image based on the text input.

So say you want to see Peter Thiel sitting down and reading the Time Billionaires newsletter. Just type that in. And the AI will produce an image for you.

That’s nuts, isn’t it?

With every new cutting edge technology that comes around, there are plenty of benefits but there are always people that misuse the tech to create chaos in this world. And AI could fall victim to this once again.

The world isn’t doing that bad

In 2021, I stopped something.

I stopped reading the news. Some friends think that is just me being ignorant. I think it’s self-care.

Think about it. News is meant to make you fearful. Otherwise how would the publisher gather shares and clicks? It’s about more impressions, more shares, more likes etc.

Once I understood the business of these news channels, I stopped consuming it. Because I understood how they wanted me to feel.

You don’t believe me? Check this out:

What do you see?

It’s all just negativity.

I’m not saying ignore the problems in this world. All I’m saying is that these channels will only share negative news because that’s what performs best.

On the other hand, this is another graph:

It shows that the world is actually doing pretty alright.

1. Poverty rates are lower than ever.

2. Literacy rates are higher than ever.

3. Child mortality is lower than ever.

Not bad, team.

Back to the news things.

So, I usually stay on top of things via Twitter or word of mouth. The bottom line is that if it’s important enough, it’ll make its way to me anyway.

Alex Lieberman sold Morning Brew (what started off as a newsletter) for $75m to Business Insider.

God — the bar is high for Time Billionaires hahah.
